Abstract

Understanding the causes of erosion is necessary in order to create protective structures on erosional beaches. This kind of information is very important to formulate a successful management plan in such areas. The case study in this document presents the construction of a groyne-field located on the Caicara do Norte beach, NE Brazil. These studies illustrate that unbalanced sediment budget is caused by neotectonic movements in this area.
