Abstract

The genus Bolboforma, although a fossil of uncertain origin, is a good calcareous microfossil group for Neogene biostratigraphy in temperate marine regions of both hemispheres. In various greensand members in Belgium twelve Bolboforma taxa were observed, documenting four Bolboforma zones/subzones in the Neogene. An age control of the marine sand units and hiatuses is discussed.
