Abstract

The core M78/1-225-1 from the Gulf of Paria has been studied in terms of a signe about the industrial agriculture of coffee, cocoa and sugar in the 19th century. In this work frame the core has been studied and described in its sedimentary structure and content. The profile shows the core with its content and the graphs show the greyscale, different contents as silica, biogenic carbonate, fragments of charcoal and the physical properties. Furthermore the diagrams show different elementary ratios. In addition an age model has been created. The sedimentation rate from the age model and the relative frequency of the charcoal are indicators for the industrial agriculture. But the are only indicators not facts. For facts as a result further studies are required.
