Abstract

Since the discovery of Trypillia mega-sites in the 1970s, their huge size and the issue of their social organization has been the Major aspect of research. The development of these huge sites, which took place around 4100-3500 BCE especially in the Uman region, is comparable in its structural reasoning with other processes of population concentration in prehistoric Europe, and closely linked to social processes. Thus, an evaluation of demographic and social processes in Europe may aid in judgements about the mega-sites.
