Abstract

Threenewcompounds(enH)6þnCu40Sn15S60 (1),(enH)3Cu7Sn4S12 (2),and(trenH3)Cu7Sn4S12 (tren=tris(2-aminoethyl)amine)(3)containingCu8S12 andCu7SnS12 clustershavebeenpreparedfromdirectsolvothermalreactionoftheelementsin aminesolvents.In1,thecubicclose-packedarrangementofCu8S12 clusters,interconnectedbycappingSnS4tetrahedraand CuS3 triangles, form two interpenetrating channel networks that are presumably filled with disordered solvent molecules. Structures 2and 3containwell-ordered,protonatedaminemoleculesandCu7SnS12 clusters.Theclustersareconnectedby SnS4 tetrahedratoformathree-dimensionalstructurewithReO3 topology. 119SnM€ossbauermeasurementisconsistentwith SnIV atoms linking, and Sn II atoms within, the mixed-metal Cu7SnS12 clusters.
