Abstract
European common squid (Alloteuthis subulata Lamarck, 1798)were sampled from the by-catch of ICES bottom-trawl survey of FRV Walter Herwig III in the North Sea in February 2000,from collect survey of RV Littorina in the Kattegat in November 2000 and from survey of FS Alkor in Kiel Bay, western Baltic Sea in January 2001. 142 specimens of Alloteuthis subulata were collected. The collection included 51% females and 46% males. Dorsal mantle lengths (DML) varied between 25-85 mm in females and between 27-98 mm in males. Wet body mass ranged between 0,6-7,9g in females and 2,1-8,7g in males. Lower rostral lengths (LRL )varied between 0,31-1,07mm in females and 0,42-1,15mm in males
